Cheng Ping Keat, Chairman

Cheng Ping Keat or “PK” as he is fondly known has been with Khind Holdings Berhad since 1987. He was appointed Group CEO in 2003. PK is responsible for leading the overall strategic planning and direction of the Company covering areas such as: operations; manufacturing; marketing, financial management; global oversight; and brand building.

Credited with being the “change catalyst” for the Khind Group, PK helped transform the Company from a small­medium scale enterprise to one of the country's leading producer of home consumer electrical appliances and industrial electrical company. He was also credited with helping Khind penetrate the international market, and led the Company's initial public offering (IPO) on Bursa Malaysia in 1998.

PK has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Melbourne, Australia and a Master's degree from Bath University, United Kingdom. Married for 27 years, he has four (4) children. He enjoys reading about different management philosophies and practices, and is an active member of various non­governmental organisations.

PK is a CEO Coach with Vistage Malaysia, a CEO Coaching & Learning Organization.

 

Heah Kok Soon, Board of Trustees

Heah Kok Soon (aka ‘Heah') is an ex­CEO whose present vocation is being a Business Advisor and CEO Coach. He has had more than 30 years of work experience, helping transform a family­owned Malaysian trading conglomerate, United Motor Works in the ‘70s into its present­day institutionalized form, UMW, as well as being the Group Managing Director of Nylex Malaysia Berhad, a company which he initiated a Management Buyout (‘MBO') on, as 1999 drew to a close.

As a CEO Coach, Heah is associated with Vistage Malaysia, which is part of a global organization aimed at transforming CEOs into better leaders. He has been a Vistage Chair for 11 years, since stepping down from managing companies in 1994, and has won several Chair Excellence Awards, including the Robert Nourse Founder's Award as well as the lifetime Vistage Master Chair Award.

Heah is a holder of a Bachelor of Economics (Upper Honours) degree from the University of Malaya, and was a winner of the Divisional Book Prize for Applied Economics. He attended and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School, Massachusetts USA in 1980. He was also accepted as a Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, United Kingdom.

In the area of community and social services, Heah acts as one of the Trustees of the Khind Starfish Foundation involved in CSR activities. In his present role of Ombudsman, Heah also continues to help promote the image and activity level of the Malaysian Mensa Society, of which he was its Chairman for several terms between the years 1991 up till 2001.

 

Victor Leong, Board of Trustees

With over 39 years' experience in the field of operational excellence in technology, manufacturing, marketing, business operations and banking, Victor is currently the Group Chief Operating Officer for the Habib Group of companies.

Victor has a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from University of Singapore and a Master's Degree in Business Management from University of East Asia/Motorola University.

In his past careers, Victor has been associated with IBM Malaysia, Motorola, Malaysia Building Society Berhad, Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad and Khind Holdings Berhad.

In the area of community service, Victor is one of the Founder Trustees of the Khind Starfish Foundation involved in CSR activities.

Married for 39 years, Victor is still involved as a director on the Board of his family restaurant business as well as an active member of a Christian organisation.

 
Margaret Soo Boon Yoke, Board of Trustees

Margaret Soo has more than 30 years’ experience serving third sector organizations, twenty of which was spent serving at the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) where she worked rank­and­file to reach the position of Chief Operating Officer.  Currently an academic director at one of Malaysia’s private international universities, Margaret is a member of the Rotary International and a life member of the National Kidney Foundation.

Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature & Linguistics from York University, Canada, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Puget Sound, Washington, USA and a master’s degree in public administration from the Tokyo International Christian University, Japan.  She lives in Subang Jaya and enjoys simple living.
